Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to the questions pilgrims ask most about Shri Kedarnath Dham.

Is registration required for Kedarnath?
Yes. Yatra registration with the Uttarakhand authorities is mandatory and free, done through the official Tourist Care portal/app. You receive a QR yatra pass checked at checkpoints.
How do I register for the yatra?
Online on the official portal: create an account with your mobile number, add pilgrim details and dates, and download the QR pass. Carry it with your original photo ID.
Is there a fee for registration?
No. Official yatra registration is free. Beware of websites or agents charging for it.
Is a helicopter service available to Kedarnath?
Yes, in season, from Phata, Sersi and Guptkashi helipads to the Kedarnath helipad — weather permitting.
How do I book helicopter tickets?
Only through the currently authorized official booking portal (linked on our official links page). Never book through WhatsApp agents or unverified websites — fake booking scams are common.
What if my helicopter flight is cancelled?
Flights are weather-dependent and cancellations are common, especially in monsoon. Operators normally refund or reschedule per their policy — keep your receipts.
Do children need registration?
Yes — every pilgrim is registered, including children, through the official portal.
Can I change my registration dates?
The official portal provides modification options per its current rules; check there. Plan buffer days to be safe.
